A new generation of seating for a new breed of professionals
Geiger elevates task seating design to the executive level with Foray, the first chair to merge task-orientated performance with executive-class luxury and comfort.

Design

Real class, real choice. Foray is the product of collaboration between Herman Miller and Geiger, a Herman Miler company, which sets a new reference point for executive chairs. The Foray chair displays classic architectural forms eased by fluid, unbroken contours, inspired by the shape of the palm of the hand. Visually, Foray's most prominent feature is the back's sinuous, cradling aluminium oval. Designed by Eric Chan, Foray continues the legacy of collaborating with innovative designers to create modern classics for the office.

Technology

In a category where ergonomics has not been at the forefront of design, Foray breaks new ground with a platform based on Herman Miller Harmonic™ tilt technology. This design delivers an unusually smooth ride, with consistent tension through the full range of recline. This gives total ease of control to all users – from large anatomical shapes to small anatomical sizes. The adjustable mechanism mirrors the body's natural movement, with pivot points at the hip joint, knee and ankle. Pivoting at these three positions of the body keeps the user in contact with the chair through all points of recline, while allowing the feet to be kept on the floor. Extension of the angle between torso and thigh for improves blood circulation. The patented ‘Super Seat’ suspension system provides long-term comfort, enhancing productivity by eliminating fatigue.

Performance

Foray has optimised user functionality with an array of intuitive, user-defined options as well as carefully `engineered materials selected for strength and durability. Foray features a form-fitting back cushion, ergonomically adjustable arm pads and tilt tension control. Because it was designed specifically for wood-based office environments, Foray enhances investments in high-end wood furniture.

Foray is available in two heights - professional for private offices and low back for conference informal settings.

Arm styles include T arm, loop arm and armless versions. Foray’s three base finishes complement the most-specified base building and furniture metal finishes in business interiors.

Environment

Foray was designed according to a strict Cradle-to-Cradle protocol, which measures the human and environmental health impacts throughout the chair's life. In particular, the material composition of components, the design for disassembly and the recyclable nature of components and percentage of recycled content. Foray is also being submitted for Greenguard certification, which measures the impact on indoor air quality.

49% recycled content

Created according to the McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry Cradle-to-Cradle design protocol, Foray is composed of 49 percent recycled content, with 28 percent post-consumer and 21 percent pre-consumer. At the end of its useful life, Foray is up to 93 percent recyclable.

93% recyclable

All die-cast aluminium components are made from 100 percent recycled material. Steel components are approximately 25 percent recycled content and are 100 percent recyclable. Plastic components carry a code to aid in returning these materials to the recycling stream. Foam and textile materials can be recycled into everything from automotive components to carpet padding.
